Louise DeMore has always been fascinated with the effects of light and color. About his work DeMore says,"I work to capture a feeling by using light and color. I don't intend to tell a story, but to create a mood." From the market scenes of Portugal to the coastline of California, and at other locations throughout the West, DeMore focuses on portraying the "on site" realism of a setting by capturing the color of nature's light and the romance of the moment through her impressionistic style. She uses oil in most of her paintings, which include landscapes, still lifes, florals, and people - all portrayed in romantic realism.
De More has studied at the Art Center College of Design, University of California, Los Angeles, and with such notable artists as Sergei Bongart, Millard Sheets, Robert E. Wood, and Tom Nicholas. She also lists the works of artists Joaquin Sorolla, Nicholai Fechin, and John Singer Sargent as inspirations as well.
A winner of over 70 awards, de More is a member of several professional associations including the Knickerbocker Artists of New York and the Plein Air Painters of America. Major collectors throughout the country have acquired her work.
