Bersenev was born in 1963 in Perm, Russia. From 1987 until1991 he studied at the Art School in Perm and then continued his studies at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art from 1991 until 1997. In 1996 he won first prize at the Muse of St. Petersburg. Bersenev has been a in the following group and solo exhibitions:
