PAULSEN Biography

Erich Paulsen was born in 1932 in a small town just outside Berlin, Germany. After the war, Paulsen’s family moved to Hamburg where Paulsen attended art school.

Paulsen's artistic success has afforded him the opportunity to travel widely, taking trips throughout Europe, Italy, France, and Spain, to name just a few. The themes of his paintings are mostly landscapes. The raw beauty of the banks along the Weser and Elbe rivers has always fascinated him. Port scenes are among his favorite subjects. All this, together with his very personal feelings for colors and the bold palette knife, a technique so typical for him, have made Paulsen’s paintings cherished collector’s pieces.
